2027 North Navigator Gen2 Control Bar
The 2027 North Navigator Gen2 Control Bar takes North’s proven control system and makes it lighter, stronger and more refined without overcomplicating it.
For 2027, North has updated the Navigator with a new fibre-reinforced internal bar structure, increasing stiffness by 20% while reducing weight. The result is a bar that feels direct and precise in your hands, with less unnecessary mass when steering, looping or throwing the bar.
The grip has also been improved with better abrasion resistance and a comfortable ergonomic profile. An offset finger section lets you instantly feel which way the bar is facing – a small detail that becomes particularly useful after rotations or when things get busy.
Connect V2 Quick Release
The updated Connect V2 Quick Release has been designed to reduce the chance of accidental unhooking or release. It uses a stiffer security finger, a smaller freeride loop and gives you an additional 20mm of throw.
Reloading remains a simple single-action process, making the system straightforward to reset on the water.
The included Freeride Loop is part of North's Toolless InterLoop system, so you can swap between Freeride, Freestyle and Surf Slider loops without needing tools.
Smooth, Simple Control
North has refined the cleated depower system with an updated power bracket for smoother trimming and reduced line wear.
A ceramic bearing assists with manual untwisting after rotations, while the redesigned leash attachment ring can spin to help prevent the landing line becoming unnecessarily twisted.
There are no gimmicks here – just a clean, functional control system designed to give you reliable feedback from the kite.
100% Dyneema SK75 Flying Lines
The Navigator Gen2 uses 1.8mm pre-stretched SK75 Liros Dyneema flying lines, selected for strength, durability and resistance to shrinkage over time.
The lines use North's modular 12m + 10m configuration, giving a standard 22m setup while allowing riders to customise line length for different riding styles and conditions.
Shorter lines can make the kite feel faster and more direct, while the full-length setup provides the familiar freeride feel most riders will use day to day.
Adjustable Bar Width
Each Navigator can be adjusted by 5cm simply by removing and rotating the bar-end cassettes.
Available sizes:
- Small – 38 / 43cm
- Medium – 45 / 50cm
- Large – 50 / 55cm
Changing bar width allows you to fine-tune how quickly the kite responds. A wider setting provides more steering leverage and speeds up kite response, while the narrower setting can calm down a fast-moving kite.
North's Suggested Bar Sizing
38–43cm Small: generally suited to kites under 8m
45–50cm Medium: ideal all-round size for most kite quivers
50–55cm Large: suited to larger kites or riders wanting more steering leverage
Bar size can also be chosen according to the way you want the kite to handle rather than kite size alone.

Who Is The Navigator Gen2 For?
The Navigator Gen2 is the bar we’d look at for the majority of North riders.
It suits everything from everyday freeriding and progression through to waves, jumping and big-air riding, while keeping the system relatively simple and easy to maintain.
If you want a high-quality North kiteboarding control bar with excellent line quality, comfortable grip and a straightforward manual untwist system, the standard Navigator Gen2 offers most of what riders actually need without stepping up to the more expensive Navigator Pro.
