Bar Size

The 2027 North Navigator Pro Gen2 Control Bar is North’s premium kiteboarding control system, built for riders who want lighter construction, high-performance SK99 lines and a smooth automatic front-line unwind system.

For 2027, North has made the Navigator Pro stronger and lighter while refining many of the details that matter once you’re actually on the water. A new fibre-filled polymer internal structure increases bar strength by 20%, while the titanium-coated stainless steel centrepiece provides smooth bar travel and works with the integrated auto-unwind system to keep your front lines organised after rotations.

It’s a clean, high-end control system aimed at riders who appreciate direct kite feedback, low-drag lines and a bar that requires very little attention while riding.

Automatic Front-Line Unwind

One of the biggest differences between the Navigator Pro and standard Navigator is North's front-line auto-unwind system.

After rotations and loops, simply sheet the bar back down and the system allows the front lines to automatically untwist. The depower main line and landing line run inside durable TPU tubing, giving the centre of the bar a clean feel while reducing friction.

For riders doing plenty of rotations, kite loops or directional riding, it means less time manually untwisting your centre lines and more time concentrating on the kite.

Premium SK99 Dyneema Pro Lines

The Navigator Pro uses SK99 Dyneema Pro flying lines for a more direct connection between rider and kite.

North uses:

  • 1.55mm SK99 front lines
  • 1.3mm SK99 rear lines

The thinner rear lines reduce aerodynamic drag, while the different front and rear diameters have been designed to help limit uneven line shrinkage.

With their low stretch and direct response, the Pro lines are particularly noticeable when you're riding powered, boosting or making fast steering corrections.

The line system uses North's modular 12m + 10m configuration, giving you the standard 22m setup while making it easy to customise your line length.

Refined Titanium-Coated Centrepiece

At the centre of the Navigator Pro is a stainless steel bar insert finished with a titanium PVD coating.

It provides a hard, smooth and wear-resistant surface for the centre lines while allowing the bar to move freely through the centrepiece. The wider geometry also plays an important role in the Navigator Pro's reliable auto-unwind system.

It’s one of those details you may not think much about until you’ve spent time on a bar where everything moves smoothly without grabbing or binding.

Connect V2 Quick Release

The Connect V2 Quick Release uses North's single-action reload system and has been updated with a stiffer security finger to help reduce the possibility of accidental unhooking or release.

The smaller Freeride Loop also gives you approximately 20mm more available bar travel.

Resetting the quick release is simple: push the end back into the mechanism until it reconnects.

The included loop forms part of North's Toolless InterLoop system, allowing you to swap between:

  • Freeride Loop
  • Freestyle Loop
  • Surf Slider Loop

No tools are required.

New Rubberised EVA Grip

North has upgraded the Pro grip with a rubberised EVA construction designed to provide increased comfort and secure grip when wet.

The bold red port and blue starboard colour coding makes bar orientation immediately obvious, while an offset finger section also lets you identify the correct side of the bar by feel.

That can be particularly useful after spins, crashes or situations where you're repositioning the bar without looking down.

Smooth On-Demand Depower

The Navigator Pro retains North's straightforward cleated depower system, with an updated power bracket designed to make trimming smoother and reduce line wear.

A circular cleat base also allows the bar to rotate cleanly as the auto-unwind system does its job.

It's uncomplicated, easy to access and gives you plenty of adjustment without cluttering the centre of the control system.

Adjustable Bar Width

The Navigator Pro is available in three adjustable sizes:

  • Small – 38 / 43cm
  • Medium – 45 / 50cm
  • Large – 50 / 55cm

To change width, simply remove the bar-end cassettes and rotate them 180 degrees.

Changing bar width gives you an easy way to adjust how responsive the kite feels. A wider bar gives you more leverage and faster steering, while a narrower setting can slow down a very responsive kite.

North's Recommended Sizes

38–43cm Small: kites under approximately 8m

45–50cm Medium: kites under approximately 11m and the best all-round option for many quivers

50–55cm Large: generally suited to kites over 8m, particularly larger freeride and light-wind kites

These are recommendations rather than hard rules. Riders can also choose bar width according to their preferred steering feel.

Compatible With More Than Just North Kites

The Navigator Pro uses a Low-V front-line split and equal-length line connectors, making it compatible with North kites and most other Low-V bridled kites.

For kites designed around a High-V line configuration, North offers a separate High-V Split Kit.

This makes the Navigator Pro a particularly good option if your quiver includes kites from more than one brand.

Navigator Pro or Standard Navigator?

For most recreational freeriders, the standard Navigator Gen2 remains an excellent control system.

The Navigator Pro Gen2 makes more sense if you specifically want the premium features:

  • Automatic front-line unwind
  • Higher-spec SK99 Dyneema Pro lines
  • Thinner, lower-drag rear lines
  • Titanium-coated stainless steel centrepiece
  • Premium rubberised EVA grip
  • A lighter, more performance-focused feel

For riders who spend plenty of time jumping, looping, rotating or simply want North's best control system, those upgrades make the Navigator Pro a genuine step above the standard bar rather than simply a cosmetic upgrade.
